SkinPen™ microneedling involves three key phases:
Phase I: Inflammation
The device creates microchannels that activate the body’s natural response to begin the healing process.
Phase II: Proliferation
New skin cells and supportive structures begin to form as part of the repair cycle.
Phase III: Remodeling
As the skin continues to renew, the outer texture and tone may gradually improve, revealing a more refined appearance over time.

Before Treatment: A topical numbing cream will be applied to enhance comfort.
During Treatment: The SkinPen™ device is gently moved across the skin to create controlled micro-injuries.
After Treatment: You may experience mild redness or tenderness, which often resolves within 24–48 hours.
Each session typically takes about 60 minutes, depending on the area treated. A series of 3 or more treatments spaced approximately 4 weeks apart is often recommended for optimal results, but your provider will give you a customized recommendation.

Temporary redness, swelling, or sensitivity may occur but usually subsides within a few days.

A series of 3–6 treatments may be recommended, depending on your skin’s condition and your aesthetic goals. Our providers will consult with you to form a plan that is suited to you and your goals.

Before your appointment:
If possible, arrive with clean, makeup-free skin, but we can cleanse the area for you.
Discontinue use of topical Retinoids 24 hours prior.
Wait at least 6 months after taking oral Isotretinoin such as Accutane to receive a SkinPen™ treatment.
If you have a history of cold sores/herpes, a course of antiviral medication is recommended pre and post treatment. Our practitioner can consult with you on that.
Avoid excessive sun exposure/tanning beds.

After your appointment:
Avoid anything that makes the face flush such as strenuous exercise, saunas, and alcohol for 72 hours.
Avoid sun exposure for 24 hours, and after that wear an SPF of 40 or greater daily.
Your provider will discuss what skincare products to use during the first 24 hours. You may resume your normal skincare routine after 24 hours, but should wait 5-7 days before restarting a retinol product.
You may apply makeup after 24 hours but ensure you are using clean brushes/hands.
