You may feel brief pinches, pressure, or a stinging sensation. We can discuss comfort measures, including numbing when appropriate. Tenderness afterward is common and usually temporary.

Most people can return to their usual routine soon after treatment, but plan for possible swelling, redness, or bruising. We recommend giving yourself a little buffer before photos, events, or anything that requires your skin to look its best. Your injector will give you instructions based on the areas treated and the products used.

Results vary by treatment area, product preparation, your skin, and your treatment plan. RADIESSE® results in studied uses have lasted up to two years, while results for the specifically studied hyperdilute décolleté treatment have been shown to last up to approximately 18 months. Those timelines are not a promise for every area we treat. We’ll discuss realistic expectations and whether maintenance treatments may be helpful.

Common side effects of include redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the injection sites. These symptoms are usually mild and tend to subside within a few days.

In rare cases, more serious side effects like infection, nodules, or vascular complications may occur. Our Medical Director is an International member of Complications in Medical Aesthetics Collaborative (CMAC), which is a group of highly qualified experts who focus on raising the standard of clinical practice in the prevention and management of complications so you are in very good hands, but it is always important to consult with your practitioner for a thorough understanding of all potential risks and to determine if dermal fillers are suitable for you.

• HA filler is often a good choice when we want precise, immediate volume or shape in a specific area.

• Sculptra® is a collagen stimulator typically chosen for gradual, broader improvement over a series of treatments.

• RADIESSE® can provide immediate support when used as a filler and stimulate collagen and elastin over time. In a hyperdilute preparation, we may choose it for skin quality across a larger area.

You don’t have to diagnose your own face (or your knees). We’ll recommend the option, or combination of options, that fits your anatomy and goals.

Come with clean skin if you can, and tell us about your medications, supplements, allergies, medical conditions, prior filler or biostimulator treatments, recent dental work, vaccinations, and any upcoming procedures. Let us know if you have an active rash or infection near the treatment area, a history of cold sores, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Some medications and supplements can increase bruising. Do not stop a prescribed medication unless the clinician who prescribed it tells you to. If you have an important event coming up, schedule with enough time for possible bruising or swelling to settle.

• Follow the instructions your injector gives you for your specific treatment. In general:

  • Keep the injection sites clean, and avoid makeup directly over them for the period your injector recommends.

  • Minimize strenuous exercise and extensive heat or sun exposure for about 24 hours, and longer if redness or swelling has not settled.

  • Avoid pressing on or massaging the area unless your injector specifically instructs you to. Massage instructions can differ by treatment area and technique.

  • Contact us if swelling, pain, redness, or a lump is worsening rather than improving.

  If your VB V-Neck treatment also includes HA filler or a neuromodulator, we’ll give you aftercare instructions for those treatments too.
